Shiatsu found me 15 years ago at a transitional stage in my life, after years of martial arts training and competitive Marathon running, I was ready to tread a softer path. Receiving my first Shiatsu treatment had a profound effect on me, not only did it improve my physical well-being, but it also completely changed my mindset, guiding me on a journey of self-development and discovery, that led to the beginning of my formal Shiatsu training with the British School of Shiatsu in London.
Training and Experience:
After studying for two years learning advanced Shin Tai techniques I gained a diploma in Shin Tai Shiatsu from the British school of Shiatsu in London. I then continued a further two years professional practitioner training with the Shiatsu College in Norwich where I graduated with a diploma in Zen Shiatsu.
Throughout my training, I have developed my understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine and its application to diagnosis during a Shiatsu session. I have also been able to combine a Five Element approach within a Zen diagnostic framework making my style of Shiatsu versatile and intuitive.
During my training and since I have given Shiatsu to people of all ages and backgrounds including children. I have supported people with the effects of stroke and terminal illness and have helped people manage depression, PTSD and other emotional imbalances. I have experience of and enjoy giving Shiatsu to the elderly and disabled people.
I am currently a Board Director for the Shiatsu Society, which sets and maintains the standards for training and professional practice of Shiatsu in the UK. It is a challenging but enjoyable role, where I am passionately promoting the many benefits of receiving Shiatsu. Presently the Society is working toward Shiatsu being part of an integrative healthcare system in the Uk
