26 Years of Helping People Feel Better: What We’ve Learned About Health, Wellbeing and Self-Care

26 Years of Helping People Feel Better: What We’ve Learned About Health, Wellbeing and Self-Care

For 26 years, Oxford Street Therapy Centre has been part of the Wellingborough community, helping people look after their physical health, emotional wellbeing and overall quality of life.

Over those years, we have seen many changes in the way people think about their health. But one thing has remained constant: when something doesn’t feel right, it is important to listen to your body and give yourself the care you need.

Your health is about more than just treating a problem

Sometimes we wait until pain, stress or discomfort becomes difficult to ignore before doing something about it.

But looking after yourself doesn’t always have to start with a problem.

Regular movement, good sleep, managing stress, taking time to relax and seeking professional advice when something isn’t quite right can all play an important part in maintaining your wellbeing.

Our bodies and minds are closely connected. Stress can contribute to muscle tension, headaches and poor sleep, while ongoing physical discomfort can affect our mood, energy and ability to enjoy everyday life.

That’s why we believe in looking at the whole person, not simply the symptom.

    Everyone’s needs are different

One of the things we have learned over 26 years is that there is no single approach that works for everyone.

For one person, physiotherapy may be the right starting point for an injury or persistent pain. Someone else may benefit from osteopathy, chiropractic care or sports massage.

For others, acupuncture, reflexology, Reiki, hypnotherapy or talking therapies may provide valuable support for relaxation and wellbeing.

Our aim is not to tell you what you should choose, but to help you find an appropriate approach for your individual needs.

    Don’t ignore the little signs

    • A stiff neck that keeps returning.
    • A shoulder that has gradually become more painful.
    • Feet that ache after walking.
    • Poor sleep that has become a regular occurrence.
    • Feeling stressed or overwhelmed.

These things can sometimes become part of everyday life, and it is easy to think, “I’ll just put up with it.”

    But persistent symptoms deserve attention.

Getting appropriate advice early can sometimes help prevent a small problem from becoming a much bigger one.

Looking after your wellbeing is not selfish

Perhaps one of the biggest lessons of the last 26 years is that self-care is not a luxury.

Life can be busy. We have work, families, responsibilities and people who depend on us. It is very easy to put our own needs at the bottom of the list.

But taking time to look after yourself can help you feel better equipped to cope with everything else life brings.

Sometimes self-care means addressing a physical problem. Sometimes it means talking to someone. Sometimes it simply means giving yourself permission to slow down and relax.

You don’t have to wait until you’re struggling to start looking after yourself.

26 years of experience — and still caring about every individual

We are incredibly proud to have been serving the Wellingborough community for 26 years.

During that time, Oxford Street Therapy Centre has grown to offer a wide range of professional physical, therapeutic, complementary and wellbeing services, with practitioners bringing their own knowledge, experience and specialist skills.

But despite all the changes over the years, our philosophy remains simple:

    Listen. Understand. Support.

Whether you are experiencing pain, recovering from an injury, feeling stressed, struggling with sleep or simply looking for ways to invest in your wellbeing, we are here to help you explore the options available.

    Your wellbeing matters

You don’t need to wait for a new year, a special occasion or a crisis to start taking better care of yourself.

Sometimes the most important step is simply recognising that you deserve to feel your best.

After 26 years, we are still passionate about helping the people who walk through our doors — and we look forward to continuing to support our local community for many years to come.

If you would like to discuss which of our therapies may be suitable for you, please get in touch with Oxford Street Therapy Centre. We’d be delighted to help.
