Hot Stone Massage
What happens during Hot Stone Therapy?
Your treatment will normally last 1 hour. You will be covered by towels, apart from the small part of the body being worked on. The towels are moved by the therapist to maintain your privacy at all times.
With our experienced Stone Massage Therapist you will be in very good hands and half an hour into the massage you will be ‘blissed out’
Who is it for?
Hot stone massage offers numerous physical, mental, and emotional benefits, making it a popular therapeutic technique in spas and wellness centre's. Here are some key advantages:
- Muscle Tension Relief: The heat from the stones penetrates deep into the muscles, promoting relaxation and helping to release tightness or knots. This can improve flexibility and range of motion.
- Enhanced Blood Circulation: The warmth of the stones dilates blood vessels, improving blood flow throughout the body. This increased circulation delivers oxygen and nutrients to tissues while aiding in the removal of toxins.
- Stress and Anxiety Reduction: Hot stone massage is deeply relaxing. The combination of heat and soothing massage techniques calms the nervous system, reducing stress levels and promoting a sense of well-being.
- Pain Relief: It can alleviate chronic pain, including back pain, arthritis, or fibromyalgia symptoms. The warmth soothes inflamed areas and helps to desensitize pain in specific regions.
- Improved Sleep: Relaxation achieved during a hot stone massage can help people with insomnia or disrupted sleep patterns achieve more restful sleep.
- Boosted Immunity: Regular massages, including hot stone treatments, can help enhance the immune system by reducing cortisol levels (stress hormone) and encouraging lymphatic circulation.
- Detoxification: The increased circulation helps to flush out toxins from the body, promoting overall health.
- Better Skin Health: The heat and increased blood flow can give the skin a temporary healthy glow and may improve skin elasticity and texture over time.
- Emotional Wellness: The nurturing and comforting nature of a hot stone massage can provide a sense of grounding, emotional balance, and enhanced mood.
- Customized Therapy: Therapists often adjust the placement of the stones and pressure according to individual needs, making it a versatile therapy that caters to specific health concerns or preferences.
How It Works: During the treatment, smooth, heated stones (typically basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat well) are placed on specific points of the body. These points often correspond to areas of tension or energy flow (like along the spine or on hands and feet). The therapist may also use the stones as tools to massage the body.
Hot stone massage is particularly suitable for those looking to unwind, recover from physical strain, or manage stress. However, individuals with certain conditions (e.g., skin disorders, open wounds, or circulatory issues) should consult with a healthcare provider before trying it.
