What is Neuro-Muscular Transmission?
Neuro-Muscular Transmission works by making use of your body’s own communication system. Connections between your muscles, nerves and brain are enabled through response to touch and then work together to facilitate a reprogramming of the mind-body system to restore health. It's a holistic approach and addresses the connection between mental/emotional/physical well being and that none of these elements of self are mutually exclusive.
What happens during an NMT session?
You are asked to wear comfortable/loose clothing for the treatment. The therapist places both hands on you and these begin to move slowly in response to the body’s signals (differentials in heat, tone etc) Physical problems are treated with a combination of hands-on, high-level manipulation and energy work. In cases of long-standing muscular distortion, there may be an uncomfortable period of readjustment for a day or two until the body relaxes into its proper configuration. For neurological or emotional malaise the hands usually work on the head or even off the body in the energy field. Likewise, there can be a period following a treatment for emotional issues that feels 'different' whilst readjustments are taking place.
During the session you may feel:
