My name is Sheila and my work involves helping clients work towards finding meaning and hope beyond their immediate struggle while imparting the knowledge, that even in the depths of suffering, they are not alone.
I run a private practice SDC Therapy - Support During Crisis- Which offers a blended therapeutic service of face-face, online and telephone sessions to young people and adults going through mental, emotional and relational crises.
Approach
My practise stems from a Person Centred Approach with a blend of different therapeutic modalities which form an integrative way of helping. This incorporates processes from Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Attachment Theories and Existentialism among others.
Qualification
I completed my CPCAB Accredited level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2013 and my Accreditation with the BACP in 2017. I work as a therapeutic counsellor for a Community Focused charity and have done so for the past 10 years, where I counsel both young people and adults experiencing behavioural, emotional, mental and relational difficulties. My passion for working with young people comes from my time as a youth worker between 2010-2014. Before this I volunteered for a faith organisation where I run a kids-club for children between the ages of 5-11yrs for 2 years. I currently volunteer with a local youth organisation that offers support group work for young people in schools. I am a registered accredited member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework for good practise as well as hold registration with the Information Commissioner's office for GDPR purposes. I am fully insured with an up to date DBS and undergo regular monthly supervision and annual safeguarding training. My safeguarding and child protection practices are guided by Northamptonshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (NSCP).
