What is Tui Na?
Tui Na is a simple yet highly effective form of manipulation and systematic massage therapy based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has been practised and used in China for thousands of years.
The name Tui Na is derived from the Chinese characters “Tui” – to push and “Na” – to grasp. Its benefits are wide-ranging and very effective not only in the treatment of muscular-skeletal ailments but also in addressing conditions of a more internal nature. The treatment aims to open up the energy pathways, releasing stagnation and restoring the balance of the body.

What happens during treatment?
A short initial consultation is taken before treatment commences. You are treated seated or on a massage couch. You can remain fully dressed for the majority of techniques, or sometimes under a cotton sheet. On occasion, the practitioner may use oils or anti-rheumatic creams, apply Cupping or Moxibustion more directly on to the skin.
A typical Tui Na session will take between about 45 minutes.
What can it do for me?
Some people have Tui Na for help with a specific symptom or condition. Others choose to have treatment to help maintain good health, as a preventive measure, or simply to improve their general sense of wellbeing.
Many people return to Tui Na again and again because they find it so beneficial and relaxing.
In the long term, if used regularly, Tui Na can play a part in preventing illness and in anti-ageing by strengthening your immune system and calming the mind. While keeping muscles supple, joints flexible and balancing the energies of the body, it also promotes the body’s own healing processes.
